because you can't fly or throw fireballs in the real world

I've been an avid gamer ever since I was old enough to walk into my neighbor's house without knocking and pick up one of their NES controllers. My tastes have developed from the old-time childhood favorites to the heyday of the 32-bit era and right on back to the basics... I'm still forgoing that newfangled stuff. Damn kids. Anyway, here are some articles and other information about my experiences with the games that I know and love.

Bubble Bobble: Join the Revolution is an article discussing my early memories and rediscovery of the game, as well as an in-depth rant about the infamous Level 57. While I was writing this article, I stumbled upon the possibility that Bubble Bobble may have the secrets of human civilization hidden somewhere within its coding. There's also a possibility that I forgot to eat that day.

Profile of a Phobia: Mario's Flying Fish is a detailed rant about my aquatic arch-nemeses, which, to this day, still cause me to squeal in terror. I have an unhealthy fear of the flying fish in the Mario games, and I would like you to know exactly why that is. They are chaos incarnate!

Shenmue and Human Labor: A horrendously backward crash course in reality is a dreadfully left-wing lamentation over the ridiculousness of learning about working in the "real world" first by driving a forklift in Yu Suzuki's magnum opus. Features actual situations encountered by the author! I swear!

Final Fantasy 7 Racing is a quick desciption of one of my all-time favorite ways to experience one of my all-time favorite games. FF7 racing is not at all for the faint of heart... it requires knowledge, finesse, and a whole lot of extreme nerd capacity.
